Frequently asked questions
What were box-drawing characters originally for?
They were designed decades ago for drawing tables, borders and boxes in plain-text terminals and early software, before graphical interfaces existed — which is exactly why they line up so cleanly as dividers in modern plain-text bios and notes.
Why does a long line sometimes wrap awkwardly?
A repeated line character is still individual characters, so a text field can wrap it mid-line just like a long word — shortening the divider or matching it to your bio's actual width avoids an uneven break.
