How it works
WhatsApp's own formatting (surrounding text with *, _ or ~) only covers bold, italic and strikethrough. Every other style here is plain Unicode text, which WhatsApp displays exactly as pasted, without needing its formatting syntax.

Why does my WhatsApp *bold* syntax not match this bold style?
WhatsApp's built-in *bold* is real formatting applied to normal letters. The Bold style here is a different, distinct Unicode character — both look bold, but they're technically different mechanisms, and this one keeps working even when copied out of WhatsApp.
